Seated Back Massage in the Workplace

Seated Back or Chair massage is becoming a popular form of preventative healthcare in the workplace and with recent studies suggesting that regular massage can boost concentration, immunity and vitality levels.

Fatigue will often cause stiff shoulders, sore necks and aching wrists. Chair massage can counteract the tight muscles caused by poor posture, in often pressured surroundings at work, it boosts circulation reducing symptoms of lagging concentration and decreased energy.

Work related stress is increasingly being recognised as a major cost deficit for businesses. Forward thinking companies are offering alternative well-being solutions.

  • 5 million workers (1 in 5 in the UK) are thought to suffer from high levels of work related stress
  • 1 in 5 people suffering from stress seeks professional help
  • "Stress" is the second biggest cause of employee sickness absent days in the UK
  • Stress accounts for 60% of the 6.5 million working days lost in Britain each year
  • The Health & Safety Executive believes that this equates to a £4 billion deficit to the UK's economy

What Is Seated Back Massage?

Using acupressure massage techniques upon a fully clothed client seated in a specially designed portable

chair, this massage offers employees a revitalising and often essential healthy break away from their desks.

Working down both sides of the spine, deep into the shoulder blades, across the shoulders, down the arms to the fingertips, into the neck and finishing off with stretching, it completely relaxes the body and mind, improving the recipients' sense of well-being and leaving them feeling rejuvenated and more focussed.

Chair massage is an enjoyable and cost effective way of rewarding and motivating employees giving them a sense of feeling great physically, showing them that their employer values them and thereby creating a more contented workforce whilst also fulfilling health and safety stress management responsibility.

Why Seated Back Massage?

Seated Back Massage improves blood and lymph flow, improves mental orientation, increases energy and decreases propensity to develop upper limb disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Employers can use chair massage services in a variety of ways:

  • Stress management in the work place
  • As a motivational bonus for excellent personnel
  • As a thank you to a team
  • At product launches to encourage more interest at exhibition stands

I will ensure that it is safe for that individual to receive massage by completing a short consultation. This is make sure the individual is not suffering from any condition that may be exacerbated during the treatment. All information is treated with complete confidentiality.

What I will need:
  • A relatively private space in which the massages can take place
  • A named contact on site
  • Promotion of the service on internal notice board and/or intranet
